Thankful Thursday - Seasons



I love the Scripture Iris chose for Thankful Thursday. Like Iris, I believe, "...we have to let go of the past and look to the future…So my focus today is on the seasons of my life and how the Lord helped me grow through them…"

I'm so grateful for fresh starts. No matter what's happened in the past, a brand new season is beginning. I can feel the changes coming on.

Birth - the assurance and hope of the birth of God's new mercies. "Because of the LORD's great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. I say to myself, "The LORD is my portion; therefore I will wait for him." ~ Lamentations 3:22-24

Death - the death of the old sins and hurts of the past. "Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?" ~ 1 Corinthians 15:55

Planting - planting the seeds for good change in my life. "Sow for yourselves righteousness, reap the fruit of unfailing love, and break up your unplowed ground; for it is time to seek the LORD, until he comes and showers righteousness on you." ~ Hosea 10:12

Uprooting - uprooting the bad from my life, things I may have become desensitized to. "Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you." ~ James 1:21

Thank you, Lord, for the opportunity to face the new seasons in my life with confidence that You will be with me every step of the way. Thank You for keeping us safe during Gustav, for Ethan's excellent eye report, for Baby No's first year of life on earth and for the life growing in Kristyn's womb. And I praise You most of all for sending Your Son to die for me. Who am I, Lord, that You would do that for me? I am so unworthy, but You died to make me worthy. You died for me because You love me, not wanting me to face punishment for my own sins, but to spend eternity in Heaven with You. I praise You for Your resurrection power, and for the promise that You are coming soon. And Lord, thank You for my blogging friends. They mentor me in ways they don't even realize, and I am so grateful You have turned me toward blogging. I've grown closer to You for it, Lord, and that's right where I want to be.

What excellent words as you broke down Ecclesiastes and gave us a beautiful prayer and lots more verses to digest! Your prayer was an overflowing of your heart and an outpouring of your thankfulness to Our Lord! Thank you & bless you for your warm words of encouragement you left me. I was deeply touched! I'm glad you are safe too and pray that the others can't reach you!
We prayed Gustav for the Lord to make Him a whisper and HE did quiet it down...let's remember to stay in prayer!
