I seem to have a theme going in Word-Filled Wednesday's now on the Fruits of the Spirit.

I covered love and joy and today's is on peace.

It's important to me to keep asking myself, "How does my garden grow?" I want it to be full of the fruit of the Spirit. The fruits of the spirit are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness and self-control.
How am I doing in bearing the fruit of peace?
Matthew Henry's Commentary had this to say about peace in regards to Galatians 5:22: with God and conscience, or a peaceableness of temper and behaviour towards others

I wholeheartedly agree! I believe as a spiritual fruit, peace is something that comes first from our relationship with God and is something we carry over into our lives with others.

Peace is a gift from God. "The LORD gives strength to his people; the LORD blesses his people with peace." - Psalm 29:11

Peace should be constant. "You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you." Isaiah 26:3

Peace is something we are to pursue. "Turn from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it." Psalm 34:14

Peace is something we give to others. "Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification." - Romans 14:19

Peace is rewarded. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God. - Matthew 5:9

May my garden be full of peace this week and forever, Lord Jesus. I want to bear the fruit of the Spirit, not only out of obedience, but because of my love for You and others. I want Your peace to reign in my heart, constantly. I want to chase after peace and pursue it. I want to give it to others. I want to give my all for You, Lord.

Now, I hope I'm not making a major WFW faux pa, but this is my 200th post! In honor of that and in keeping with the Fruit of the Spirit theme God has pressed on my heart, I'm doing a giveaway. Please pass the word around and direct others to this post. The giveaway will close Saturday, August 15, at midnight. This will be the only announcement for the giveway.

All you have to do to enter is leave a comment on this post and share a treasured Bible verse. The verse doesn't have to relate to peace but that would be super cool if it did!

The very scientific process of choosing the winner will be the way a friend did it on her last giveaway. All names will go in a hat and my husband will draw the winner. I don't have one of those scientific random comment generator thingies, hah hah!

What's the giveaway? A fruit of the spirit pitcher! Seriously! It's a pitcher...with fruit on it. It's beautiful and I think it would be a wonderful reminder for whoever wins to think of the verse each time they see the picture! Just sharing the love.

Love and Blessings,

Hey sister Laurie Ann,

May the Lord God bless you for staying hid in Him! My favorite thing about this verse is knowing that the "peace" of God that transcends all understanding is that I'm no longer considered an enemy of God...no, but a daughter! Praise the Lord for His miracle work of salvation in Christ Jesus!

Happy 200th Post! I enjoyed your WFW. Here is another verse about peace, "When a man's ways are pleasing to the LORD, He makes even his enemies live at peace with him." Proverb 16:7

but here's a verse I'm getting my head around:

“Why are you angry? And why has your countenance fallen? "If you do well, will not be lifted up? And if you do not do well, sin is crouching at the door; and its desire is for you, but you must master it." ~ ADONAI {to Cain, Genesis 4:7}

What a peaceful verse and scene. Here's another verse on peace: "But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace." ~ Psalm 37:11

Happy 200th Post! Love the devotion with the WFW. So encouraging, Sister! His peace...how could I survive without it? And, when I am not experiencing it, I know something is "off" in my walk. I like the verse that talks about this. Don't know the address (or if I am quoting it exactly)..but it is something like, "let His peace be your referee." Blessings, friend!

Loved this post...how we all need to cultivate the fruits of the spirit in our lives! This was a great reminder. Happy 200th! What a terrific giveway idea. I smiled because one of my favorite verses of all time popped in my head when you asked for a verse relating to peace... Isaiah 26:3 "You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you."

Blessings,
Tracy

Thanks for sharing these verses and your heart. A verse about peace that I memorized early in my walk is...

And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:7

Thank you for this post. Congratulations, too, on your 200th post. My verse doesn't mention peace but it, instead, gives me great peace whenever I am feeling a bit topsy-turvy in my life (which is most of the time...) 1 Peter 5:7: Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you. May all your anxieties go and His peace fill you! Blessings. Bonnie
