Bonnie, host of Ink It blog, is hostessing In Other Words Tuesdays today. Please be sure to visit her blog to read what she and the other ladies had to say on this quote today.

“There are two ways of spreading light;

to be the candle or the mirror that reflects it.”

~Edith Wharton~

Both candles and mirrors are mentioned in the Bible.

"If thy whole body therefore [be] full of light, having no part dark, the whole shall be full of light, as when the bright shining of a candle doth give thee light." ~ Luke 11:36 (KJV)

"For if you just listen and don't obey, it is like looking at your face in a mirror but doing nothing to improve your appearance." ~ James 1:23 (NLT)

If we carry within us the light of our Savior, the world around us will be illuminated by the fruit of the Spirit borne within us. However, if we squelch the light the Savior has for us, we darken our appearance. As we learn more about Christ, we reflect His love to the world around us.

Either way, light can be given; but the choice is ours! May the light of our Lord and Savior shine brightly from us by the fruit we bear and may we reflect His light to others, as mirrors of obedience in Christ.

The idea of squelching the light of Jesus in our lives and darkening our appearance is a great thought. There are so many things in our lives that can cause us to put out His Light.

You post reminds me too that our walk with Jesus is just that: A WALK.

If Jesus is truly right next to us at every step, our lives will SHINE like the LIGHT he commands us to be.
